Town Growth & Bonus Claims

Liora encourages towns to grow through building, infrastructure, and development.

The Points of Interest (POI) System rewards towns that invest time into creating meaningful structures and expanding their settlements.

Instead of relying entirely on recruiting new residents, towns may earn additional land claims by developing their territory.

This system encourages:

  • Cities instead of small bases
  • Infrastructure and landmarks
  • Regional identity
  • Large-scale construction
  • Long-term investment in towns

What Are Points of Interest?

Points of Interest (POIs) are notable structures or districts built within a town.

These locations represent meaningful development and may be recognized by staff as important landmarks.

Examples include:

  • Large town centers
  • Ports or harbors
  • Markets or trade districts
  • Government buildings
  • Infrastructure hubs
  • Unique landmarks

Approved POIs may receive:

  • Additional Towny land claims
  • Dynmap markers
  • Development recognition

How to Apply

Players may submit a request for POI recognition through the official Discord.

Application Process

1. Create a ticket in the Discord. 2. Provide coordinates of the structure. 3. Provide screenshots or description of the build. 4. Explain the purpose of the structure.

Staff will review the submission and determine whether it qualifies.

If approved, the POI may be added to the Dynmap and bonus claim power may be granted.

Development Tiers

POIs are divided into development tiers based on scale and complexity.

Larger and more significant builds may grant greater rewards.

Tier 1 – Landmark

Small but notable structures.

Examples:

  • Unique statues
  • Small monuments
  • Decorative landmarks
  • Local gathering spots

Possible Rewards

  • Small bonus claim expansion
  • Dynmap landmark icon

Tier 2 – District

Developed areas serving a specific purpose.

Examples:

  • Markets
  • Residential neighborhoods
  • Industrial areas
  • Farmland districts
  • Military outposts

Possible Rewards

  • Moderate claim bonus
  • District Dynmap icon

Tier 3 – City Infrastructure

Major town infrastructure that supports larger settlements.

Examples:

  • Ports
  • Trade hubs
  • Government buildings
  • Transportation hubs
  • Large plazas or city centers

Possible Rewards

  • Significant claim expansion
  • Infrastructure Dynmap marker

Tier 4 – Major City Landmark

Large or iconic structures representing major development.

Examples:

  • Massive city districts
  • Grand ports
  • Major economic centers
  • Regional capitals
  • Unique mega-builds

Possible Rewards

  • Major claim bonuses
  • Special Dynmap marker
  • Possible additional benefits

Upgrading Existing POIs

Towns may upgrade existing Points of Interest.

If a structure grows or expands significantly, players may submit another ticket requesting reevaluation.

For example:

  • A small port becoming a major harbor
  • A market expanding into a trade district
  • A town center evolving into a city capital

Upgraded POIs may qualify for higher tiers and additional rewards.

Additional Development Bonuses

In some cases, reaching certain development thresholds may unlock additional benefits.

Examples may include:

  • Additional Towny resources
  • Special infrastructure permissions
  • Nation expansion options
  • Strategic bonuses

These rewards may evolve as the server grows.

Map Recognition

Approved Points of Interest may be marked on the Dynmap.

This allows players to:

  • Discover important locations
  • Identify regional landmarks
  • Navigate major towns and cities

POI markers help build the history and identity of the world.

Staff Discretion

Final decisions regarding POI approval, tier classification, and rewards are determined by staff.

Factors considered may include:

  • Build quality
  • Scale of development
  • Uniqueness
  • Contribution to the server world

This system is intended to reward meaningful development rather than small or temporary builds.

Great cities are not built overnight.

They are built by players who choose to invest in the world.
